正确掌握和运用词组是英语学习中的难点之一。如果说生词是考研英语中的“拦路虎”，词组则是考研答题过程中的“绊脚石”。仅仅能将单词倒背如流，面对词组也还是会束手无策，尤其是当考试中遇到阅读、完型和翻译中的词组时更是一片茫然，白白丢分。

　　1. cast out 赶出，驱逐

　　The members of the association did not like his behaviour, so they cast him out.

　　association ：n.协会， 联合， 结交， 联想

　　2. catch at 试图抓住，拼命抓

　　A drowning man will catch at a straw.快淹死的人一根稻草也会抓。

　　straw ：n.稻草， 麦杆

　　The hungry man caught at the sandwich and began to eat.

　　3.catch（on）fire 着火，开始燃烧

　　A wooden building can easily catch on fire .木制房屋容易起火。

　　She was standing too close to the fireplace and her dress caught fire .

　　fireplace ：n.壁炉

　　4. catch/get/take hold of 抓住，得到

　　Catch hold of this rope, and we'll pull you up.

　　抓住这根绳子，我们就会把你拉上来。

　　rope ：n.绳， 索， 绳索；v.围起

　　Catch hold of this rope when i throw it to you.

　　5. catch on

　　1）流行起来

　　2）懂得，理解

　　1）The song caught on and was sung and played eyerywhere.

　　这首歌风行时，到处都在演唱。

　　Mini-skirts first caught on in the 1960's超短裙是在六十年代开始流行的。
